B F smile together

You may have noticed that there is a lack of African representation in global children’s entertainment. With the likes of Dora the Explorer, and Bubble Guppies covering our TV screens, we don’t get to see cartoons that represent children the African diaspora.

Now EVCL is an animation studio based in Abuja, Nigeria that has produced an African educational cartoon called Bino and Fino.

Created by Adamu Waziri, a Nigerian animator, Bino and Fino is an African educational cartoon about a brother and sister who live in a modern day city in sub- Saharan Africa. In each episode Bino and Fino,  discover and learn things about the world. The show is for children
mainly between the ages of 3 and 6. The series shows aspects of African history, culture and languages to children.

The pilot episodes are currently on DVD and can be ordered, and the company is working on producing 25 episodes in HD for TV broadcast.

We have one word to describe this show “Adorable”

If you are looking to expose young children to African culture and give them an educational experience, turn off Disney Channel and turn on Bino and Fino.
