This is when your local thrift store comes in handy: just go pick up a cute jean button down shirt or even some cute jeans.
And if you want to add a little “umph” to the garment, all you need is rubber bands (if you’re bleaching the pants, not so much for the shirt), a bucket, and some bleach!
Tie a rubber band in random areas of the pants while simultaneously rolling each pants leg to the top and when finished, it should look like a big ball.
Pour some bleach in the bucket and drop your pants in there.
Be careful, you don’t want to leave it in there too long or else your pants will begin to fall apart if the bleach is too strong, trust me, I learned this the hard way!
Now for the shirt, you can just tie a rubber band in the middle of the shirt and hold the half that you want to be bleached in the bucket for about 3-5 minutes, if even that long.
This could potentially create an ombre’ effect. If you’re in a warmer climate, you can go pick up a jean jacket, cut the sleeves out, bleach it and distress it with a box cutter and you’ve got yourself a stylish vest!
